The year 2023 was marked by numerous challenges for our projects, for example in the Sahel region, where coups d’état, armed groups incursions and internal conflicts caused massive population displacements.
In our annual report, find out how your support is helping to improve the lives of vulnerable children and mothers in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guatemala, Madagascar, Nepal, Niger and Tanzania.
Together, with our local partners and the involvement of the local population, we have been able to provide quality education to thousands of children, train teachers and healthcare workers and give pregnant women access to better healthcare. Thank you for your support!

Our actions for healthier mothers and children
In Bangladesh, Burkina Faso and Nepal, we train healthcare workers and inform pregnant women about good practices during pregnancy and how to identify danger signs for themselves and their babies. In Madagascar, we have implemented nutrition awareness programmes for children and birth preparation programmes for expectant mothers. In Nepal, we have improved the behaviour of healthcare workers through online training in respectful care for expectant mothers. Finally, in Tanzania, we have developed educational material to inform young people about sexuality issues to prevent early pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Our commitment to quality education
In Burkina Faso, thousands of children had to flee armed conflict. To help them return to school, we rehabilitate schools, provide a daily meal and school supplies, ensure quality education and offer psychological support to displaced children. In safer regions of Burkina Faso, as well as in Guatemala and Chad, we train teachers in bilingual education (in the country’s official language and in the local language), to help children progress more easily and we develop school textbooks adapted to local realities. In Niger, we offer education focussed on basic skills and local trades to out-of-school youth.

Children’s rights by and for children
To raise children’s awareness on their rights and strengthen their participation, we have equipped teachers in French-speaking Switzerland and Burkina Faso with educational guides enabling pupils to formulate recommendations for the respect of their rights. In Switzerland, on the International Children’s Rights Day, pupils got together to share their ideas at our “La Parole aux Enfants (Voice to the children)” festival.
