The Country’s Challenges

In Niger, four out of ten girls and three out of ten boys do not go to school. Children grow up in an often dangerous environment that prevents them from attending school regularly. 76% of girls are married before the age of 18, 36% of teenage girls become pregnant between the ages of 15 and 19, and only 29.9% of girls are literate, compared to 50.2% of boys.

Enfants du Monde works actively in Niger to offer a second chance to children who are out of school or who have left school too early. The aim is to improve the quality of and access to education.

Our Impact

  • 914 children and young people have gained access to quality primary education;
  • 15,000 young people aged 9 to 14 who have dropped out of school or never attended school are receiving education tailored to their needs thanks to the mandate we carry out for Swiss Cooperation.

Ramatoulaye, schoolgirl in Niger

My dad couldn’t afford to send me to school because he already pays for two of my brothers. I was able to go to school with the support of Enfants du Monde because it’s free.

My Donation Can Make a Real Difference

For example:

With 70 CHF,

I could provide bilingual school manuals in French and Mooré to 10 children in Burkina Faso—helping them succeed in school.

With 140 CHF,

I could support 28 pregnant women and their partners in Bangladesh to attend maternal health education sessions and prepare for childbirth.

With 200 CHF,

I could fund continuing bilingual education training for 17 teachers in Guatemala to improve the quality of their lessons.
