As we begin a new year, we want to share three positive highlights from 2024 that demonstrate the impact of your support for the most vulnerable people. From maternal and child health in Bangladesh to protecting children in Guatemala, and improving adolescent health in Tanzania, these initiatives show that together, we can make a real difference.
Bangladesh: Combining Health and Climate Resilience
Our project addressing the severe impacts of climate change on maternal and child health in Bangladesh has officially started. Among the first achievements, in partnership with the local NGO ESDO, a health center has been renovated to provide a safer, more welcoming environment for patients. A rainwater harvesting system has also been rehabilitated, ensuring better access to safe drinking water in an area of water scarcity. Additionally, we have helped establish a mobile ambulance service that will be able to save lives, even in the most remote areas. At the same time, healthcare staff are receiving training to address the specific health risks posed by salinity and extreme heatwaves for women and children.
Guatemala: Schools Where Learning and Growing Thrive
Our project to protect children from violence has launched in 40 public schools across Guatemala. In the departments of Alta Verapaz and Chimaltenango, teachers have been trained to identify students who may be victims of abuse, promote peaceful relationships among peers, and help children better understand their rights. Simultaneously, artistic activities such as theater and writing contests provide students with opportunities to express themselves more freely and learn how to stand up for themselves.
Tanzanian Youth Take Control of Their Health
Our joint project with the Swiss NGO SolidarMed has reached a new milestone: our trained adolescents are now leading educational sessions on sexual and reproductive health for their peers. These sessions address essential topics such as preventing sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancies , while fostering open and nonjudgmental discussions. This empowers young people to better protect their health and shape their future.
The year 2024 has shown us that even in an uncertain global context, solidarity can transform thousands of lives. Each of these actions underscores the importance of collective efforts to support the most vulnerable communities.
In 2025, we remain committed to building a fairer world. None of these achievements would have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and volunteers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your steadfast commitment!
My donation makes a difference
I contribute to funding discussions with adolescents and the community to identify their health knowledge and needs.
I help organize creative workshops in a school in Guatemala so that students can recognize situations of violence and learn how to protect themselves.
