The country’s challenges

Chad is facing a complex humanitarian crisis, marked by internal conflict, forced displacement, food insecurity and health emergencies, requiring aid for more than a third of the population. The education system is in difficulty, with inadequate infrastructure and limited access, especially in rural areas and for girls, resulting in low enrolment rates. The instability of neighbouring countries and the influx of people from Sudan, the Central African Republic and Libya are exacerbating the situation. In response, Enfants du Monde, mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the French Development Agency and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, is running educational programmes focusing on the in-service training of teachers and literacy centre leaders, already benefiting thousands of people in the provinces of Moyen Chari, Batha and Wadi Fira.
