Adapting Programs to the Context of the Health cCrisis

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020, all Enfants du Monde teams mobilized to adapt the association’s programs, in collaboration with local partners and health ministries, in order to protect our beneficiaries and staff, support health systems, and refocus activities in line with developments in the countries where we work.

What has Been the Impact on the Countries Where we Work?

Healthcare services in the countries where Enfants du Monde works (such as Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Niger, El Salvador, etc.) are fragile, poorly funded, poorly organized, and ill-equipped to adequately treat severe cases of COVID-19 and patients requiring intensive care.

That is why our Swiss NGO, through its local partners, has come to the aid of the governments of the countries where we work, notably by implementing: measures to prevent and control infection in healthcare facilities; developing effective communication at the community level; training healthcare workers; and strengthening coordination between the various actors to halt the spread of COVID-19.

The personal protective equipment (which was funded by Enfants du Monde) will be used by healthcare workers and during patient care (caps, masks, goggles, gowns). We appreciate this donation and hope to receive more in the future.

Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

The first actions carried out by Enfants du Monde, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and our local partners, focused on prevention to stop the spread of the epidemic.

Pursuing our Education Programs Safely

In Guatemala, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad, the schools we support were (partially) closed for several months and training for teachers was temporarily suspended. Enfants du Monde has provided support to adapt the learning formats to continue teaching in complete safety. When the return to school was possible, our Swiss NGO made sure that it was done in complete safety for the students and their teachers.
