Children supported by the project

In Burkina Faso, despite progress made in maternal and child health, maternal and neonatal mortality rates remain high, and few children benefit from the essential stimulation needed for healthy development. To address this, the government launched a National Strategy for Integrated Early Childhood Development. Our project, “Taking Care of Your Child on a Daily Basis,” implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Health, aims to improve the care provided to young children—particularly in terms of health, nutrition, and the development of nurturing relationships—by training and supporting health professionals, community workers, and parents. The goal is to promote the harmonious development of every child.

Simple tools to improve young children’s health

The project aims for more than 70% of health personnel and 50% of parents to adopt good responsive caregiving practices by 2026.

We provide high-quality information and support to parents and caregivers through innovative and accessible tools, such as the mobile application “My Child Is Growing Up” (already downloaded more than 100,000 times), a counselling sheet in Mooré, and educational posters distributed in health centres and within communities.

By actively involving health authorities, 25 local community-based organisations, and social leaders, we ensure a lasting impact on the health and development of young children in Burkina Faso.

Our impact

  • 540 health professionals trained in child stimulation, parent–child interaction, and parental support
  • 1,400 community actors’ skills strengthened through family education
  • Over 500,000 parents reached and informed to better support the health and development of their young children
  • Community participation promoted through 25 local partner organisations
