We are joining around forty other Swiss organizations active in international cooperation to reaffirm the importance of equitable partnerships with local actors across the Global South. The manifesto “Locally Owned, Globally Backed” calls for a transformation of international cooperation to make it more just and effective.

We advocate with donors for funding that enables innovation and the institutional development of partners. Indeed, local self-determination strengthens the sustainability of projects and the resilience of communities, but it requires reducing bureaucratic constraints to adapt to the realities on the ground.
Localization at the Heart of Our Practices
This commitment is already a reality for Enfants du Monde through long-term partnerships and the co-creation of health and education programs with national authorities. By investing in the training of local staff and involving communities in decision-making processes, we ensure that international cooperation projects are truly effective for the most vulnerable.
